Centre Improvements

The first phase refitting of the kitchen in the Olde Barn is now complete.  Most of the work to fit the units was carried out by our Caretaker / Handyman with just a couple of volunteers from time to time.

The results are stunning, we now have an hygenic practical work space.

We have at last made a start on refurbishing the tired kitchen in the Olde Barn at the Community Centre, we secured a small grant for a new cooker and the ‘Friends’ raised extra funds to enable us to purchase a fantastic new Range Cooker as well as a commercial catering sink.  The walls in the kitchen have been clad with hygenic wallboards and the new equipment has been installed. In the serving area we now have stainless steel workbenches and a new fridge.  There is still some way to go as we still need new flooring and more cabinets but the difference so far is amazing.  Thank you to all those volunteers who helped with the work and also to those of you who supported the ‘Friends’ with their fundraising.

Refit of the Kitchen in Olde Barn

by gyca on 25/01/2011

The kitchen in the Olde Barn is in dire need of updating and a  design is in place to enable us to have a brand new kitchen area together with a designated storage room and hopefully longer term a Café Area at the rear.

(April 2011) This project  has now moved on and the Association has received a Grant from WBC Community Chest of £400 for the purchase of a new cooker, which has been topped up with a donation from the ‘Friends’ for the purchase of a Double Oven Range Cooker and a new Catering Sink unit.

(May 2011) Our new Caretaker, John has now made a splendid job of fitting in this new sink and lining the walls of the kitchen in hygenic easy  clean wall panels. The rest of the kitchen which is mainly the serving area is still to be done.

(June 2011) We have just heard that we are to receive funds that will enable us to complete this project and hope to publish before and after photos in due course.
